Welcome to our class webpage and to the 2007-2008 school year! This year we will study all sorts of literature, including short stories, novels, plays, and fairytales, by great writers like Arthur Conan Doyle, Jack London, Lorraine Hansberry, and George Orwell. For the first week of school, we will be getting to know each other, touring the library, and beginning some reading exercises. If you haven't purchased your books yet, you should (and soon). In future, you will check for assignments and handouts here.
Make sure you have these textbooks:
Butler, Eugenia. Correct Writing, 5th ed. D.C. Heath, 1991. ISBN 0669204749

Classroom Expectations
Always bring your homework, books, and writing materials with you to class. (Never ask your teacher for a pen!) Come to class on time and ready to learn.
Have respect for your teacher, classmates, and visitors. Demonstrate respect by listening to others and arguing fairly. During a lecture or group discussion, always raise your hand before speaking.
Being a good student means paying attention, taking notes, asking questions, volunteering, and helping your fellow classmates whenever you can. I will keep track of your participation in class.
